Law with Social Policy – Social Sciences Courses

This exciting and highly acclaimed course focuses on providing the student with a fully comprehensive understanding of the legal system here in the UK. The candidate will gain in-depth knowledge of the workings of a wide range of social and community issues they will be faced with each day as well as family and welfare regulations and policies.

In year one of the courses three year duration the topics covered by the candidate will be fundamental topics such as Introduction to Social Policy, Social Analysis and also Doing Social Research. The second year you will be required to take on topics and modules such as Family and Welfare Law, Sociology of Health and Personal Social Service. The students will then in year three move on to more complex topics which include Comparative Health and Welfare, Housing Policy and finally Issues in Social Housing.

During each of these topic modules the student will be required to show a thorough understanding of all aspects and will be marked on their dissertations during the year and also will need to sit a set of exams which will be scored both internally and externally by an accredited examination body. On completion of this course the student will be able to understand fully areas such as social, political and cultural diversity; legal systems and also be able to apply social policy theories to analyze social needs and policy outcomes. Job opportunities for successful candidates will be of a wide nature on completion of the course with positions such as Legal Executives, Trading Standards Officers, Welfare Advisors, Health and Safety Advisors or Local Authority Workers frequently available to name just a few.
